Student Auditions and Competitions
2010 AUDITION CALENDAR
NATIONAL (MTNA) - The purposes of the Music Teachers National Association Performance competitions are to provide educational experiences for students and teachers and to recognize exceptionally talented young artists and their teachers in their pursuit of musical excellence. The state competitions are considered the primary educational level with the division and national levels showcasing outstanding performance and honoring significant pedagogical achievement. All rules are detailed on the MTNA website. STATE (WMTA) – The State Events offer both competitive and non-competitive opportunities for students. These events are not connected with any National events. District Auditions and Badger Competitions are linked, in that you must play at District Auditions and achieve a particular score before the student is eligible for Badger Competitions. See the Events Handbook for more information. Which District are you in? Click here. The other State Events stand on their own – The Competition for Young Composers, the High School Virtuoso Competition and Badger Collegiate Performance Competitions.
