MISSION STATEMENT
The Wisconsin Music Teachers Association (WMTA)
Foundation provides
resources to the organization that benefit its students, teachers and
educational programs. The Foundation partners with donors to support and
strengthen the association’s role in serving the educational needs of
Wisconsin.
Established
in 1972, the WMTA Foundation is a not-for-profit (501c3) organization related to
the association. Funding priorities for the Foundation include student
scholarships and grants, student services and special program support for
our membership. The WMTA Foundation supports programs to financially
assist teachers and students with their educational pursuits while
providing an opportunity for individual and corporate support of WMTA and
its programs.
The WMTA
Foundation is committed to keeping Wisconsin's musical future alive for
future generations by supporting comprehensive programs that nurture the
creation, performance, study and teaching of music.
Some of the
grants offered by the WMTA are:
Moreover, the WMTA Foundation provides financial assistance to our
statewide auditions and competitions and awards outstanding member of the
year from each local association as well as the "WMTA
Teacher Award of Excellence" program. Another prestigious award
is our support for our national affiliate, the Music Teachers National
Association (MTNA)
Foundation Fellow Program. The Music Teachers National Association (MTNA)
Fellow program offers a meaningful method for honoring deserving
individuals while supporting the efforts of the MTNA Foundation
Fund through a
donation to the Foundation
Fund in an individual’s
name. Most recent Wisconsin Foundation Fellows have included Carole
Winborne, NCTM (2003), James Norden, NCTM (2005), Joyce Grill, NCTM
(2006), Carmen Shaw, NCTM (2007) and Teresa Weber, NCTM (2008).
Every gift,
whatever size, is needed and appreciated by WMTA and the students we
serve. We all can help keep the music alive for years to come in
Wisconsin. The Foundation offers a variety of gift-giving options, any of
which we would be happy to assist in implementing. Because the WMTA
Foundation is non-profit, all or your donations are tax deductible.
