WMTA MEMBER RESOURCES

Membership in WMTA and MTNA brings many opportunities.  Our members are part of a powerful network of teaching professionals through their involvement in state and local association activities.  There are conferences, workshops, festivals, special educational programming, student competitions and opportunities to meet new friends.  As an MTNA member, members can enjoy enlightening educational opportunities through the national conference, discounts and resources, collegiate chapters, investment services, professional and personal insurance.  Please click on a category below to learn more about programs available to our members.

Individual membership year begins July 1st and ends June 30.  State Student membership year begins October 1 and ends September 30.  WMTA dues for active member is $25.00/year (eff. 4/2011).

WMTA MEMBERSHIP
There are no membership restrictions. If you are interested in the opportunities available through WMTA/MTNA membership and are concerned about the welfare of music in society, you are invited to join. It is not necessary to have a music degree or be affiliated with a music school.

Our membership directory is updated quarterly.  If you are trying to locate a member and do not see his or her name listed online, please contact our VP-Membership Chair, Emily Luker at pianoemily@yahoo.com, or the WMTA central office at 608-850-3566, ext. 329 so we are able to provide you with contact information for this member.

MTNA MEMBERSHIP
As a WMTA member, you will join MTNA, the nation’s oldest professional music organization. You will be entitled to all MTNA membership services including a subscription to the award-winning magazine, American Music Teacher, insurance programs, publications and workshops. Your students may enter the performance auditions or apply for the composition award.  To join, please contact MTNA or call 1-888-512-5278.

LOCAL ASSOCIATIONS
The Local Associations are the strength and backbone of WMTA. Fourteen area groups are located about the state and serve as a strong networking organization for interested teachers. Monthly meetings are held featuring an expert speaker and members have the opportunity to become involved in committee functions and programs tailored to their needs.   For a complete listing of Wisconsin affiliated Local Associations,  CLICK here.

CERTIFICATION
Certification will set you apart as a teacher of high professional standards. You will be recognized by employers, clients, and your peers as a teacher committed to high musical goals and excellence in your profession. WMTA offers education programs to assist teachers in the accreditation process and administers the evaluation necessary to award certification. For more information, go to MTNA Certification.
